So yeah, we kind of fell off our game on Prunus Girl, and each chapter was a few days behind, until this one ended up pretty far behind the mag release. There's always a silver lining though, as Prunus Girl doesn't have a chapter for July, so it kind of just ended up spreading out that month of haitus over the past 3-4 releases rather than having a full extra month break all at once. Or something. ReplyDeleteYeah I really liked Prunus but the last few chapters have been painful. It's not like I don't like lesbians, or these particular lesbians, it's just that it seemed like you could have dedicated half of the last 3 or so issues to something else to make it more interesting, and it wouldn't have weakened their plot in any way.
ReplyDeleteI had a good read up on intersex conditions actually between chapters and it's gotten me even more interested in what exactly Aikawa is. AIS or Klinefelters would make the most sense, but he's pretty small. The going between male and female kind of makes sense because it's probably tough to "Pick" a gender identity as an intersex person. Maybe he's really in between, but there's not really anything particularly male about him.

ReplyDeleteEh, I've heard that theory before, and I don't think it fits with the tone of the series. Prunus Girl leans a bit hard into the comedy side of "romantic comedy" to pull out that sort of plot device without it kind of coming from left field. We do have a project we'll be announcing soon that tackles that issue though, from a much more serious direction than most of the stuff we work on.
